THE HISTORY:
Black grape variety is native to the Bordeaux area where, together with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it contributes to the production of the most famous wines in the world.
It was introduced in Italy in 1880 by Senator Pecile and Count Di Brazzà, to spread at first in Friuli and then in Veneto. In Friuli Venezia Giulia, it has certainly found a land of choice: a cornerstone of Friulian enology, it is today the most widespread black grape variety.
